Cannot recommend this tour more highly. Our instructor, Trang, spoke excellent English and talked our small group through all instructions, effectively, for this 3 hr cooking class. My partner and I were collected from our homestay just across the bridge in Hanoi at exactly the time where we were instructed and driven a short trip to our boat. There we were taken to the island on a serene river where the ducks frolicked. I’m aware that the duration of the class meant that we were not independently cooking every single step, instead, Trang ensured that all 7 of us in the class, participated equally and contributed to the creation of all 5 dishes that we made. If you want a step-by-step experience then I suggest you select another, longer class that the school also has to offer, but this was perfect for what we wanted – ‘a short course’. The class went quickly (an indicator we were having a good time) and before we knew it we were sitting beneath the beautiful lanterns, on dusk, sharing the fruits of our labour. Some of the best food I’ve eaten since being in Vietnam. Thanks Trang!

Had a wonderful afternoon with Trang! She was a very good teacher, particularly for a beginner as she explained everything clearly. The afternoon started with a hotel pick up in a nice van, a short and comfortable boat ride to a quiet and peaceful location. We learnt so much from Trang and created the dishes as a group. It was really satisfying to share the meal with other travellers that we had all been a part of cooking! Really enjoyed learning about the different herbs and seeing the herb garden. Gorgeous location. We were well looked after! Thank you Trang!

The day began with a small group tour of the local markets where Min, our guide and chef, showed us all of the local herbs, vegetables and meats. We were introduced to the specific herbs used in Vietnamese cooking which was fascinating. By choosing the earlier start time we experienced the exhilarating hustle and bustle of the morning market rush!
A boat took us to the beautiful Thuan Tinh island where the cooking began. We were taught 4 dishes but the highlights were flipping pancakes and flame cooking of the beef!
You leave utterly full with new knowledge and a book of recipes. I cannot recommend this cooking class more, an absolute must do in Hoi An!

My family with three children between the ages of 6 and 10 had a wonderful time learning to cook and shop with our guide/chef Trang. Trang was very knowledgeable and answered our questions and was very helpful with our children. She even took the time to let one of our sons rest when he was not feeling well while in the market. She had great tips for cooking, and shopping. She also did a great job of adapting several dishes for our special dietary needs. This was a great trip and we highly reccomend it to others. All of my children, even my pickiest eater, loved all of the dishes that we made. My 6 year old cooked with my husband, but the other two were able to do the dishes mostly on their own with assistance from the friendly and helpful staff.
